When it comes to automatic taping tools, Tapepro’s flat boxes are among the best in the industry. But if you’ve been looking into them, you’ve probably come across two key options: Blue2 and Booster flat boxes.
Both are designed to help plasterers finish joints faster and with more consistency, but they work a little differently. Let’s break down the key differences so you can choose the best one for your needs.

The Blue2 Flat Box
Smooth, Efficient, and Great for Thick Mud
The Blue2 flat box is all about effortless compound flow. It’s designed to handle thicker compounds with ease, making it a great choice for plasterers who prefer a heavier mix.
What makes the Blue2 different?
✅ Weaker springs = easier operation – Unlike other flat boxes, the Blue2 doesn’t rely on spring tension to form a seal, so it opens and closes easily.
✅ Wider slot for compound flow – This means less resistance when dispensing mud, creating a smoother and more controlled application.
✅ Extended loop springs for full opening – The box opens wide, making it easier to hand fill and clean.
If you’re looking for a reliable, easy-to-use flat box that runs smoothly with minimal resistance, the Blue2 is a solid option.

Booster Flat Box – Assisted Mud Flow for Hard-to-Reach Areas
The Booster flat box takes things a step further with reverse springs that reduce the effort required, making it easier to push. Very useful with larger flat box widths and difficult positions.
How does the Booster work?
✅ Mudflow control mechanism – When the box is placed on a wall the ratchet mechanism disengages allowing the springs to pull the lid closed, creating flow. When the box is removed from the wall, the mechanism re-engages holding the lid in position, stopping flow.
✅ Proper technique is key – Instead of pressing directly on the mechanism wheel, start by placing the blade on the wall first, then rotate the back of the box down onto the wall to disengage.
✅Gets easier after the first run – Once some compound has been used, internal pressure builds up, making disengagement easier and reducing effort.
✅ Ideal for difficult areas – The assisted mud flow makes it perfect for out-of-position work or ceilings, where reduced effort helps create a better finish.
If you need extra control and efficiency, especially in awkward or overhead applications, the Booster flat box is the way to go.
Which One Should You Choose?
Both flat boxes deliver professional-quality results, but they shine in different scenarios:
✅ Use the Blue2 if you want a smooth-running box with minimal resistance, especially for thicker compounds.
✅ Use the Booster if you need reduced effort, particularly for hard-to-reach or out-of-position work.
No matter which one you choose, Tapepro flat boxes are built for performance, durability, and speed, helping you get the job done faster and with a better finish.
